Maybe I'll bite the bullet and order parts for a new PC next week. That's what's been holding me up.

Har, I just ordered a nice AMD Phenom II and other parts to set up my win7 release build. :-) I am getting pretty excited... I hope 8gigs of ddr3 will be enough to run 6 daoc clients lol

I was hoping that Intel would release a 32 nm quad core at about this time. That's what I wanted for my next build.

Looks like Intel is slowing down on its tick tock (when it comes to actual products) because AMD is no longer a competitor in high-end CPUs.

Intel introduced new and better products at light speed over the last few years because AMD was a threat. Looks like that's over now.

I don't think we'll see fast progress in high-end CPUs again unless a new competitor materializes. Maybe ARM can grow in that direction. Or one of the new Chinese companies that is dabbling in CPUs.

I wouldn't count AMD completely out of the high end business... but they are working on a niche with their fusion chips at the moment. I could see some higher end chips making their way out from AMD at around 2012-14

They just don't have the money. I don't see how they can compete anymore. I would love to be proved wrong.

Abracadabra, here it is -- maybe. A company called Tilera.
